What are we going to do?

Day 1

We will depart from New York City and cross the state of New Jersey to Pennsylvania, where we will enter the city of Philadelphia, also known as the city of brotherly love. Once there, we will enjoy a fascinating panoramic tour that will take us along the famous Benjamin Franklin Parkway, Elfreth Street (the oldest inhabited street in North America), among other places of interest.

Before leaving Philadelphia, we can’t miss a visit to the iconic Rocky’s Staircase. Afterwards, we will head west to Lancaster County, home of the Amish community.

The visit to the Amish community will begin with a picturesque ride in an authentic Amish carriage through the village, where we will learn how this community has managed to survive for decades without the use of technology, electricity, sewage and other services that modern society considers basic.

We will discover how they have adapted and incorporated technology to create self-sufficient farms and use renewable energy sources. Then, we will visit the Amish market, where we will be able to buy local handicrafts. In the late afternoon, we will drive to Washington DC and stay at the Fairfield Inn and Suites, arriving there in the early afternoon.

Day 2

We will start our day by visiting the impressive Thomas Jefferson Memorial, located in the Basin Basin, surrounded by the famous Japanese cherry trees. Afterwards, we will drive to historic Arlington National Cemetery, where we will witness the moving changing of the guard and visit the Kennedy family mausoleum.

Our next stop will be Capitol Hill, where we can admire the majestic Capitol building, home to the two houses of the U.S. Congress. The Capitol has a large dome in the center and two wings on each side, with the north wing corresponding to the Senate and the south wing to the House of Representatives. We will also visit the iconic White House to understand the heart of American government.

We will continue our tour visiting the Smithsonian National Museum of Natural History (as long as the Aerospace Museum is closed for renovations), the Lincoln Memorial, Martin Luther King Memorial and the Korean and Vietnam War Memorials.

In the afternoon, we will depart north towards New York and arrive in the city in the evening.
